01Thunderstorm radar live – track lightning and cells now

Looking for a thunderstorm radar or live lightning map? You mainly want to see where strikes are happening and whether a cell is moving toward you. Our thunderstorm page combines the lightning map, a one-hour timelapse, reading tips and safety guidance.

The homepage shows the same lightning layer at a glance. For details – reading colors, spotting squall lines, combining rain radar and alerts – switch to the dedicated thunderstorm page.

02Storm-Radar – 27 weather maps for every situation

Besides rain and thunderstorms you can explore heat, wind, snow, frost, sea temperature, dust or the ozone layer live. The wave radar shows sea state and wave height for the Atlantic, Mediterranean and North Sea.

Every topic has its own page with a live map, clear explanations and FAQs – useful for weather enthusiasts, outdoor plans and severe-weather awareness.

03Severe weather maps: thunderstorms, rain, flash floods and alerts

The thunderstorm radar shows lightning and active cells worldwide in real time. The rain radar visualizes precipitation and heavy showers – Starkregen Deutschland focuses on flood risk. The weather alerts map gathers official warnings in yellow, orange and red.

Coverage is especially strong for Germany and Europe. Combine thunderstorm, rain and alert maps when severe weather approaches – in winter add the ice warning with the frost radar.

04Leisure guides – pollen, UV, swimming, sailing, garden

Not every topic has its own measurement layer – but matching weather layers do. Our guides bundle the right maps with a switcher like on the homepage: pollen today, UV index, swimming weather, sailing, fishing and garden weather.

Each guide states clearly what the map shows and what you should still check with official DWD data or local measurements.

05Wind, temperature, snow and more

Beyond classic severe-weather layers, Storm-Radar offers atmosphere maps for wind, gusts, temperature, heat, snow, frost, fog, clouds, humidity, pressure and dew point. Special layers show dust, ozone, sea temperature and wave height.

Together they give a full picture – from a thunderstorm cell to Saharan dust to Atlantic swell.

06Stay safe in rain and severe weather

When alerts are active, shorten outdoor time, seek shelter and follow official advice. In thunderstorms keep clear of trees, water and metal. In heavy rain avoid underpasses and low spots.

Use our live maps, add Germany’s NINA warning app when needed, and don’t share outdated screenshots – conditions can change in minutes.
