01Reading the temperature map – fronts and extremes
You recognize warm and cold fronts by sharp temperature gradients. In summer the map shows heat belts and cooler coastal regions. In winter you see cold outbreaks and mild air masses.
The temperature shown is not perceived temperature – wind and humidity can strongly change how it feels. For moisture and dew point use our supplementary maps. For heat waves and summer extremes see our heat radar.
